Isaiah 55:6-7 Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
This chapter begins with a call to those who are thirsty. No money needed. It’s a gift.
Isaiah 55:1-2 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;
and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.
Have we been living for something elusive? We listen to deceptive siren calls and get disappointed.
When the truth reveals the lie, the lie has no power.

“Pennsylvania. Pursue Your Happiness” is the newest slogan for my home state. The best way to pursue contentment and fulfillment is through our Creator; he knows us completely. Many never find it because we look in the wrong places.
This is the time to seek God. There is no better time. In desperate times He is our hope. When we turn, God will have mercy. He wants to (and is eager to) pardon us fully. Is 55:6-7 offer us promise and a warning. Jesus offers an abundant life as we surrender to him. But we often choose not to go our own way.
Will we join with others to seek God earnestly for a spiritual awakening?
